Hello! No waste of good suffering is wanted, give us a penetrating introduction to REVENIENCE and don't hesitate to stuff it hard! It seems the musicians of REVENIENCE play or used to play in various other outfits before... Is the band supposed to be a new and totally fresh entity, or rather the continuation of another one that existed before?
Revenience : Hello there! Revenience is a gothic tainted metal band, with a symphonic progressive atmosphere but with a beating core of heavy riffing and galloping rithms. Above this stormy surface, above some angry growling breakdowns, the voice of Debora emerge as a crystal clear beacon, guiding you through the stories of our songs. Revenience inherits from its past, partially is a continuation of previous projects, but with a strong approach of renewal… We definitley feel as if it’s something born anew and for sure we have in mind this kind of approach. It’s a new life we’re growing.

What inspires you/the band now a days? What is your inspiration to create music, what is your drive? How would you best describe the REVENIENCE sound ?
Revenience : The beauty of a landscape, the suggestion of misterious places, something happening in our lives and in the world around us… basically, everything we perceive or experience that stirs emotions. We really like the idea of translating this in the music and lyrics of a song. We love when a song is evoking an image or an idea… we want to take the listener by hand and lead him right through one of our stories! We think that our sound is like this... atmospheric, sometimes soothing and sometimes aggressive and often a bit… Unsettling.

Congratulation New Band CD " Daedalum " Release Now. Pure Awesome with madness, Unearthly production and inhuman violence like Bestial Assault. Now tell us about the concept and story behind this masterpiece. The Cool story behind " Daedalum ", Let’s talk about your magnificent concept album !
Revenience : Wow, thanks a lot! We’re really glad you enjoyed it! Daedalum is another name for zoetrope, which is a device for seeing an animation of some images by spinning a wheel with the very images inside. That’s a nice concept we saw… some kind of change of prespective: by seeing the images alone you see something apparently unrelated... in two dimensions only. But then you spin and the images acquire a new meaning, a new depth: drawings coming to life… you add time as a third dimension! Think about when back in 1830 this “daedalum” was invented.. there was no cinema and that was really mind blowing for the period. We loved the idea and we loved the metaphore of this: sometimes you can experience something new, unexpected and awesome just by adding a simple element or just by changing perspective. All the songs revolve around the concept of reaching a new level of awareness… let’s say of the inner self, after moments of suffering or anger or sadness. Like a reaction to difficult moments in one’s life, that lead to personal growth. Here the concept of the daedalum come back: after a shocking event (the sudden “spinning”) you see something in a different, more evolved way… static images start to make sense and become a fascinating animation.

Your music is more quite seriously, Aggressive and articulated rhythmic patterns are merged with pervading sounds and Atmospheric Arpeggios. Don't tell me " it's just how we feel ", it should be directed towards someone or something... So what's the reason for so much of Aggressive and articulated obscure feelings?
Revenience : It’s the Struggle, the fight against that something that makes us angry and upset. The indifference of people, the loss of contact with your inner self, the loneliness everybody feels and desperately hides, etc…. Furthermore, Aggressiveness and Articulated patterns are what we like to play and to hear, wheter we are on stage or as listeners. We wanted to overcome the clichè of the “ Eminor Galloping Symphonic metal band”, and to find something that represented us as artist and human beings. In this sense Daedalum is a successful Experiment, but we can Assure that this is not an arrival point for us: it’s only the beginning of a Great journey of Research and Momentary finding, as everything that matters in life.

Founded in the end of 2014 on the ashes of various projects in the Italian underground gothic metal scene. How can you unite obsession and ego to be able to create a character " Fresh " for REVENIENCE? whether REVENIENCE will be Project Full band in the future?
Revenience : Well we are good friends and we’ve playing together for a long time. We share a lot not only as band mates but also as human beeings, so there’s much Empathy, Synergy and a Reciprocal understanding. I think that’s the trick to be natural when playing and composing. Moreover fresh ideas comes naturally because we’re curios people and we’re never tired of trying something new, even if we are lazy ahahah! We really have fun playing together, and we want to do it as much as possible… that’s where the character of Revenience comes from.

I wonder how's the interest from the underground Metal media before release? Now you should begin to receive reviews... Are feedbacks nicely putrid and juicy? What were the weirdest things you read about " Daedalum" ?
Revenience : Well, before the release we had only a limited number of people who knew us (of course, since this is our first release!), but many of those who saw us in one of our shows came and ask: “so where’s the CD! I want one!”. That was really encouraging. Now that Daedalum is availible worldwide, many reviews and feedbacks are coming, luckily for us most of them are really good. Also, it’s nice to see that our music is beeing perceived really personally, with a lot of different and surprising impressions and everyone has its different favourite song. Every feedback we get has something new, almost every time we get a new unique comment… and we think that that’s really positive, it makes us feel like there’s something deep in our songs. Even negative comments are interesting (you can’t be liked by everyone!), of course when they are “motivated”, not just some casual “bha!”. Amongst the weirdest things we red, there’s something like: “they are just a mix of this band, of that band, some of that other band too, ah and also some of that other band, nothing new”... well isn’t that a contradiction to say that our songs are “nothing new” if you are saying in the meantime that you need to put together 45 different bands to describe our style? We think that’s funny! Another funny one is more or less: “Debora tries to sing like Tarja Turunen” but actually she never ever sung lyrical singing tecnique, so it’s completely different singing styles! How can you possibly say that she tries to imitate that? weird!

What is the special thing with REVENIENCE Heterogeneity and variety of their previous Experiences Stuff ? How much material Overdubbing and Harmonization do you do in the studio? Is layering a necessity for the REVENIENCE formula to work properly?
Revenience : Heterogeneity of our past experience is like a big library we can have access to, so that we have lots of different and inspiring ideas to chose from. But building up a song is way more complex than just deciding chords, licks and lyrics, actually the real work starts there… The starting point to us is that a good song must sound great also if played with ukulele, but in order to create the exact atmosphere and feelings we want to transmit there’s lot of arrangement work. That’s where harmonizations and additional sound layers comes to help. When we play live we try to reproduce as much as possible everything as it was intended, with backing tracks and everything, but we don’t feel like we are bound to this. For instance, we also love to play it simple with acoustic instruments and voice only and we think it still works really well… it doesn’t sound less to us, just different.

I'm Very Surprise with Nice Sound Production for this album, what Is this already a Trademark for REVENIENCE established itself from the beginning? and how REVENIENCE still able to maintain all of this until now?
Revenience : We’re glad to hear that, we really worked a lot on sound production and we’re quite happy with the result. First of all, for the great result we want thank Simone Mularoni (Domination Studio), Luca Gomedi (HDL recording studio) and our bass player Fausto De Bellis (Hidden Stone recording studio) for their excellent work in recording, mixing and mastering our daedalum. There’s no hidden trick, it’s just something we’re constantly working on, we are very careful listeners and we are never completely satisfied, so we keep pushing for reaching something better. We’d say that we’re still improving in that and, with all the efforts we are putting on it, our objective is to keep on evolving our production quality. So we hope that next release will sound even better!

And in Arranging songs, whether REVENIENCE pressing to play more Progressive, Gothic, Symphonic metal and also Electronic music influences are present?
Revenience : A dark and gothic atmosphere is kind of a starting and arrival point both. We love the “uneasyness”, the unsettling feeling it gives… symphonic elements helps a lot achieving that mood, while electronics insertions and sounds spice up the mix and some progressive rithms and patterns shakes everything up. That’s a cocktail we love. When arranging songs we follow the flow, in a sort of instinctive way… sometimes we feel like an unpalpable idea is forming, then we try to condense that new element in a song. And when we get goosebumps then we know that we have a catch!

Who made the artwork and what does it Represent?
Revenience : The artwork was the product of a collective work: the young talented artist Marco Maldarella is the one who realised the concept and the first version, then all of us Revenience worked together for reaching the final result. It is the representation of an evolving ipothetical geometric 3D solid, inspired by the words of the philosopher Plato in its book “Timaeus”: in this work Plato explained that the founding element of nature are composed of these “Platonic solids” and also that these ideal regular figures have a deep meaning in his theory on astrology and metaphisic. Moreover the “daedalum” (that’s how we like calling the final drawing) is inspired by a 4 dimension hypercube (or tesseract) seen in prospective. Of course we didn’t have the presumption to realise an accurate rapresentation of the above, we were just inspired by that… and we really loved that idea!

Where do you think or where do you want REVENIENCE to be 5 years from now?
Revenience : We’d really, really love to be at some big festival hitting the stage with other awesome bands.Or playing in some important venues, in some big city around the world. Hehe, it’s not really original, is it? But that’s it, our biggest whish is playing on stage, as much as we can imagine. Really simple! Of course it would be great to have produced a couple of new albums too! We have lots of ideas, we need time to put them down... just wait and see! :)

Overall, it's time to come to an end now. Hope you enjoyed this interview? Thanks for answering my questions and the time you spend on them. I hope I didn't forget anything? If there's something left to say at the end feel free to use this opportunity now. You can add what you wish, I let you conclude all last word this Interview !
Revenience : Thank you very much for this interview! All your questions were really intriguing, we hope you’ll enjoy our answers as well. We hope also that by reading this interview our listeners will find hints for additional key to the interpretation of our songs, exploring some more beneaththesurface layers of our music and lyrics. One more thought: be curious!
